We're hiring!

We are looking for a friendly, welcoming, and adaptable person to join our unique team of staff members here at 19 Carter.


Staff on Duty 

Part-time Position 


Be the staff member on duty at events (weekend and evening events, private rentals, and backup for daytime shifts) at a unique, busy gathering place that has a welcoming, caring culture and serves a wide range of ages and personalities.  

Hours variable - averaging 12-15 hours per week - depending on 19 Carter schedule. 


Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee operations of activities and building while on duty, including welcoming patrons and volunteers and troubleshooting potential issues with building, patrons and volunteers as they come up. Manage Front of House (front desk area), including handling money transactions for tickets, donations, sales, etc. through POS system. 
  • Manage flow of the event (starting time, tech needs, etc.). Remain onsite during the event. Follow established checklist to ensure building is event ready. 
  • Work with and give instructions to assigned volunteer(s).  
  • Ensure all public spaces are clean, unobstructed and ADA compliant. 
  • Meets weekly with staff to review past and future events and may require additional communication between scheduled hours. 


Other duties as assigned. Reports to Marketing & Program Manager; works closely with Operations Manager and Hospitality Manager/Volunteer Coordinator. 


Qualifications: 

  • Work experience in a customer focused environment required 
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills  
  • Must have experience handling money transactions (ideally including tickets, donations, sales, etc. through a Point of Sale (POS) system) 
  • Must be organized, detail oriented and able to prioritize tasks in a changing environment 
  • Must use discretion and ensure confidentiality while handling sensitive matters with respect to staff, volunteers, and patrons alike 
  • Capable of setting and holding nonjudgmental expectations for volunteers and patrons 
  • Experience working with volunteers or as a volunteer preferred 
  • Event management experience preferred 
  • Experience with social media platforms (Instagram and Facebook) preferred 
  • Occasionally moves objects and furniture weighing up to 25 lbs. for various needs and occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions.
